Download MSI Afterburner without guessing the wrong file

This page is a hygiene guide, not a mirror. Afterburner is free Windows software for GPU monitoring, fan curves, and optional RTSS overlays. Treat the installer like any other system utility: known publisher, known size, then prove detection before you touch clocks.

A boring, repeatable install order

Most “download disasters” are supply-chain problems, not GPU problems. If Windows names a publisher you do not recognise, cancel. This site does not host a mystery EXE.

  1. 1Open the official MSI Afterburner landing page from a bookmark or the button on this page. Not a random ad.
  2. 2When SmartScreen or your browser warns you, read the publisher line. Continue only if it matches what you expect for MSI Afterburner.
  3. 3Install, reboot if prompted, then launch Afterburner and confirm the GPU name resolves before applying any curve.
  4. 4Export a known-good profile immediately so a bad evening of sliders has an undo path.

RTSS often installs as a companion. That is expected. Bundled “driver optimizer” packs from unknown sites are not Afterburner.

What this site will not do

We will not pretend to be MSI, we will not wrap the installer in an “optimizer”, and we will not ask you to disable security tooling as a first step. If detection fails after a clean install, use the troubleshooting article. Grey sliders are a visibility problem, not a dare.

After the installer is honest

Download is the easy sentence. The next hour is monitoring, then thermals, then one axis of tuning. Jump here when the GPU actually shows up:
